Betty Brocklesby Sum (Betty Boo), who has a hearing impairment, applied for the Herts Inclusive Sports Initiative Bursary to support her with the costs for attending the County and National Competitions and attending Archery GB National Age Group Athlete coaching sessions.

Update report written by Alison Brocklesby Sum (Betty’s mum) “Betty made it to the Junior Indoor Nationals (Archery). It was a good experience and she was placed 8th in her category. Betty is pleased as this competition falls during the winter training season and she had only just made some technical changes the week prior!
She has currently just added a clicker to her equipment and is resettling her form before the next phase of adjustments. It is all work in progress. Her GB coach is very pleased and confirmed she it right where she needs to be and time is very much on her side and things are not to be rushed.
Betty is currently at GB camp Jan 2024. Betty is always full of excitement and loves the new mini goals to achieve. It is great that the athletes get to build their support team and develop a rapport with their team mates.
Betty also has the county comp next month. Again, she isn’t focusing on a podium finish as the technical winter training is still all go, but it will be good for her to get out and meet friends and see how the adjustments she’s been working on hold up in a competition environment.”
