Further update from Georgie Bullen:
“We won gold in both of the races in Scotland (August 2025) but we knew the real test was going to be competing at the Para Road National Championships September 2025 – as that would be the first time we’d be competing against all the GB tandems…. On Saturday 3th September, we had the crit race and we managed to get the silver, only being pipped to gold in a sprint finish by Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl’s tandem (they are multi Paralympic medallist’s). We had convincingly beaten Lizzi Jordan and Dannie Khan (also Paralympic medallist’s) so we were between the current top two GB female tandems on the podium.
We then had the 15 mile Time Trial on the Sunday 14th, which we knew would be very tough as, unlike the GB pairings, we don’t have a separate TT tandem, so we had to beg and borrow some wheels and other equipment to try and almost turn my road tandem into a TT tandem – but, despite the disparity in equipment, we managed to secure bronze, finishing less than a minute behind the winners.
These results are very significant and we hope this will mean we may get the chance to compete in some international races next year. We are now entering track season, so we will not have any road races again until next year – but we are hoping to return next year with a TT tandem as well so we’ll be on more of a level playing field. We have started raising funds for it and, through a grant from my work and donations from family, we’re already at £5150 of our £7350 target – so fingers crossed we’ll get there soon!
